One 12 oz. bag of roasted, whole cocoa beans from a single origin.
Each batch has been roasted enough to kill all necessary bacteria, but the natural flavors of the beans themselves are still preserved.
The Aggie Chocolate Factory roasts each batch of beans 5 kilograms at a time, at 360 deg f initial temperature and 260 deg f final temperature for 35 minutes. This is a light roast.
Our Current Single Origin Beans:
- Chiapas, Mexico
- ABOCFA, Ghana
You may recieve either one of these origins in your shipment.
What can I do with roasted cocoa beans?
Cocoa beans have naturally high antioxidant properties, often times more than blackberries. Good for immune system and abundant in minerals, as you remove the shell from the nib you can add this onto your baked cookies for a crunchy, nut-free treat. Put the beans in a blender and you can add the nibs onto your yogurt for the morning. Those who are also low in iron may just eat a couple beans a day to help combat the deficiency.
The cocoa shell is edible, but very fiborous. Many people prefer to peel the shell off. However, our food science students have managed to create a hazelnut-spread lookalike with nibs and shells.
The shells can be used in potting soil or for decoration, as the smell of the shells is chocolatey and very aromatic. Beware, those who have dogs are not recommended to put the shells in places where dogs can have access to it, it can be very toxic to animals.
